HOCKEY NIGHT IN PORT ALBERNI

Despite the "Bulldogs" loss last Friday night, I enjoyed the game. It was my first time at our hockey arena. It's sure nice and big and...a bit cold. There are so many things that happen at the game, it is impressive. For example, they have draws, giveaways, etc. and the music, although it could be loud at times, it is nice.
I'm a "Canucks" fan. I never miss a game on TV. I'm sure they are going to make it for the playoffs.
But all in all, the experience at the Multiplex was so much fun. Too bad we lost to the visitors: the Cowichan Valley team. Well, next time.
If you want to watch a good hockey game, that's the place to go. It's a beautiful building, with nice seats and is very comfortable.
Thank you.

READING PROGRAM AT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Well, here we go again!
Abbeyfield and the Alberni Elementary School working together once more. It is a wonderful programme!
Every week we go to the school and the little ones come down where we are and start to read out loud until they get stuck on a word. Then we help them. Then on they go again. We help them when they need it. If the School Board would bring back the phonics programme, the children would not have the problems they have. I sure hope that the School Board sees fit to carry on with our little programme. I love it!

THANK YOU!

On behalf of the residents of Abbeyfield Port Alberni, we would like to thank you members of the "Coastal Spirit Fund" (Coastal Community Credit Union) for the generous donation you gave us to install an electrical button door, which gives us access to our back yard, which will be most useful, especially in the summer months.
The residents who use wheelchairs or walkers can use the door quite easily now. Also, we have two small pets who will appreciate being able to be taken out by their owners oftener.
